Threads posts a noticeably higher engagement rate than Instagram for the same audience, and the reason is structural rather than flattering. The feed is conversational, replies are the default action rather than a considered one, and a reply chain pulls the original post back into circulation each time it grows. Rates that would be exceptional on Instagram are ordinary here.

That makes cross-platform comparison the main trap. If you report a Threads rate next to an Instagram rate in the same document, the Threads number will look like the better channel when it is mostly measuring a different behaviour. Compare Threads posts against your own Threads history and nothing else.
