A Buffer alternative priced for people who post everywhere
Buffer is a good tool with a pricing model that punishes exactly the thing you're trying to do: post to many channels. Every connected channel raises the bill. WriteOnce flips that: one flat price, all 10 platforms, unlimited posting and scheduling, so adding Bluesky or Threads costs you nothing extra.
This comparison is honest about the trade. As of 2026, Buffer is stronger for teams that need approvals and an engagement inbox. WriteOnce is built for creators and small brands who want to write once, publish to everything, and get back to making things.
Everything below is checkable. Buffer's prices are quoted from its own pricing page with the plan name attached, WriteOnce's come from the plan you would actually buy, and the row where Buffer wins is in the same table as the rows where it does not.

Post from Claude, Cursor, or any MCP client
WriteOnce runs a native MCP server. Connect with one API key and your AI assistant can draft, schedule, and publish to all 10 platforms. Buffer does not offer native MCP posting.
What you get by leaving the per-channel model
The bill stops tracking your platform count
Per-channel pricing quietly makes every new platform a purchasing decision. You end up asking whether Bluesky is worth another line on the invoice instead of whether it is worth posting to. A flat price removes the question. Connect all ten, decide per post, and let the ones that do not work for you sit idle at no cost.
Newer platforms treated as first class
Reddit, Threads, Bluesky, and Pinterest are in the same composer as Instagram and LinkedIn, on every plan. Reddit posts carry a subreddit and flair, Pinterest pins go to a named board. These are the platforms where generic cross-posting usually fails, so they get the specific handling they need rather than a lowest common denominator.
One composer that knows each platform's rules
The character counter clamps to the strictest platform you selected, so a caption written for LinkedIn cannot silently truncate on Bluesky. Platforms that cannot accept your media are removed from the selection rather than failing at publish time. When one platform genuinely needs different words, override just that caption from the same draft.
Your AI assistant can publish for you
WriteOnce runs a native MCP server, so Claude, Cursor, or any MCP client can draft, schedule, and publish through your account with one API key from Settings. If you already write with an assistant, the post never has to leave the window you wrote it in. This is the one capability on this page that the large schedulers do not currently offer at all.

What ten platforms cost, both ways
Per-channel pricing is reasonable at two or three channels. The question worth asking is what it costs at the number of platforms you actually want to be on.
| WHAT MATTERS | WriteOnce | Buffer |
|---|---|---|
| Entry paid plan | Creator, $19/mo | Essentials, $5/mo per channel |
| Price at 3 platforms | $19/mo | $15/mo |
| Price at 10 platforms | $19/mo | $50/mo |
| Scheduled posts on the entry plan | Unlimited | Unlimited per channel on Essentials |
| What the free option covers | 7-day trial, all 10 platforms, unlimited posts | 3 channels, 10 scheduled posts per channel |
Buffer figures are its published Essentials rate of $5 per channel per month and its Team rate of $10 per channel per month, read in July 2026 from buffer.com/pricing.
Who this actually saves money for
One product update has to reach LinkedIn, X, Threads, Bluesky, and Reddit on the same day, and none of those audiences overlap enough to skip any of them. That is five channels minimum before you have posted anything personal. Per-channel pricing charges you for the breadth that is the entire point of announcing something.
You are already on the visual platforms and the text platforms, because that is where the audience split. A creator posting daily to Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, and Threads is at five channels on day one and adds more as platforms rise. Flat pricing means experimenting with a new network costs nothing but the time to write.
Client work multiplies channels fastest, and it is also where per-channel pricing hurts most, because the count grows with every account you take on. Worth being straight about the limit here: WriteOnce has no approval workflow or shared inbox yet, so if your clients sign off on posts before they publish, Buffer remains the better fit today.
You do not need ten platforms, you need the four or five where your customers actually are, posted to consistently without hiring anyone. The value is not the platform count, it is that a week of posts gets written in one sitting and then runs itself while you get back to the actual business.
How to switch from Buffer to WriteOnce
There is no data export or import step, because there is nothing locked in. Switching is really just connecting accounts and rebuilding your queue times, and you can do it while Buffer is still running.
Write down your Buffer queue times
Before you change anything, open your Buffer posting schedule and note the days and times you post on each channel. This is the only thing you genuinely need to carry across, and it takes about two minutes. If you have posts already queued in Buffer, leave them there for now so nothing goes missing.
Connect your accounts to WriteOnce
Start the 7-day trial and connect each social account through that platform's own login screen. WriteOnce never asks for a social password and receives a revocable token instead, so you can disconnect from the platform's own settings whenever you want. Connect everything, including the platforms Buffer was charging you extra for.
Rebuild your queue and post once for real
Set the queue times you wrote down in step one, then write one genuine post and publish it to every platform at once. This is the actual test. You will see per-platform results come back individually, so you can confirm each account is properly connected before you trust it with a week of content.
Run both tools in parallel for a week
Let whatever is already queued in Buffer publish on schedule while you write new posts in WriteOnce. Running both for a week costs nothing extra during the trial and means you never have a day with no posts going out. It also gives you a fair comparison on the same content rather than from memory.
Cancel Buffer once the queue is empty
When the last Buffer-scheduled post has published, cancel from Buffer's own billing settings. Do it in that order rather than cancelling first, because cancelling can remove queued posts you were relying on. Then disconnect the accounts from Buffer so only one tool holds a publishing token per platform.

When Buffer is the better pick
If your workflow needs post approvals across a team, a shared engagement inbox for replies, or procurement wants a vendor with a long enterprise history, pick Buffer and don't look back. WriteOnce wins when the job is one person or a small brand publishing the same content to many platforms without a per-channel bill.
Two more cases worth naming. Buffer's free plan is genuinely free forever at three channels, so if three is all you need and you post rarely, no paid tool is worth it, including this one. And Buffer has been running for over a decade, which matters if you are choosing a tool you expect to still be there in five years. WriteOnce is new, and that is a real thing to weigh rather than something to talk you out of.
