Pinterest engagement is saves and outbound clicks, not likes
On Pinterest the metrics that matter are saves and outbound clicks, not likes. Calculate your rate against impressions and see what a pin is really doing.
Benchmarks vary by platform. Pinterest typical: 1 to 3% is solid.

Pinterest follower counts matter less here than on any other platform except Reddit. Pins surface through search and related-pin recommendations, often months or years after they were published, so the audience for a pin has almost nothing to do with who follows the account. Impressions are the only denominator that produces a comparable number.
The interactions also rank differently. A save means someone filed the pin to come back to, which is both the strongest ranking signal Pinterest reads and the thing that keeps a pin circulating. Outbound clicks are the metric that matters commercially, since a pin exists to move someone to a page. Likes barely register in either sense and are the least useful thing to count.
Rates on impressions read low compared to a feed platform, and that is expected rather than a problem. Pinterest impressions accumulate slowly over a long tail, so a pin published in March may still be gathering saves in November. Judge a pin after several weeks, not after two days, or you will discard work that had not started yet.
Because of that tail, comparing a new pin against an old one on raw totals is meaningless. Either compare rates on impressions, which normalises for age, or compare pins at the same age. WriteOnce schedules pins to a specific board so the fresh pins keep arriving while the older ones continue to earn.

Saves and outbound clicks. A save keeps the pin circulating and is the strongest signal Pinterest reads, while an outbound click is the action the pin exists to produce. Likes matter least.
