Facebook Page reach is small, so measure engagement against it
Facebook Page posts reach a fraction of followers, so engagement against Page likes reads low by design. Calculate against reach for a number you can use.
Benchmarks vary by platform. Facebook typical: 1 to 3% is solid.

Organic reach on a Facebook Page is the lowest of any platform WriteOnce supports, and it has been falling for a decade. A post reaching a small single-digit percentage of Page followers is ordinary rather than alarming, which means a follower-based engagement rate on Facebook will look bleak next to the same account's Instagram number even when the content is performing normally.
Reach is the denominator worth using. Meta Business Suite reports it per post, and entering it in the followers field gives you a rate that answers whether the people who saw the post did anything. Reach-based rates on Facebook typically land in the mid single digits for a post doing well.
Shares are the interaction that changes outcomes here. Facebook's distribution still rewards a post travelling out of your Page's own audience, so a post with fifteen shares and forty likes will usually out-reach one with two hundred likes and no shares. It is worth filling in the shares field rather than treating it as optional.
One caution about comparing to old benchmarks: Page likes and Page follows have been separate numbers since Meta split them, and a Page can carry many more likes than follows. Follows are what determine who is eligible to see a post, so use follows in the denominator if you are going to use an audience number at all.
