A Hootsuite alternative without the enterprise price tag
Hootsuite is powerful, but it is built and priced for agencies and large teams. The Standard plan starts at $99 per user per month, billed annually, which is a lot of overhead if you mostly want to write a post and publish it everywhere. WriteOnce keeps one flat price for all 10 platforms, with unlimited posting and scheduling.
This comparison is honest about the trade. As of 2026, Hootsuite is stronger for social listening, deep analytics, and large multi-seat teams. WriteOnce is for creators and small brands who want cross-posting and scheduling without an enterprise bill.
Everything below is checkable. Hootsuite's prices are quoted from its own plans page with the plan name attached, WriteOnce's come from the plan you would actually buy, and the row where Hootsuite wins is in the same table as the rows where it does not.

Post from Claude, Cursor, or any MCP client
WriteOnce runs a native MCP server. Connect with one API key and your AI assistant can draft, schedule, and publish to all 10 platforms. Hootsuite does not offer native MCP posting.
What you get by skipping the enterprise tier
A flat bill that does not scale with seats
Hootsuite charges per user on every tier, so a three-person team on Advanced is not $249, it is $249 times three. WriteOnce charges one flat monthly price regardless of how many platforms you connect. For a solo creator or small brand, that difference is the entire point of switching.
Newer platforms treated as first class
Reddit, Threads, Bluesky, and Pinterest are in the same composer as Instagram and LinkedIn, on every plan. Reddit posts carry a subreddit and flair, Pinterest pins go to a named board. These are the platforms where generic cross-posting usually fails, so they get the specific handling they need.
One composer that knows each platform's rules
The character counter clamps to the strictest platform you selected, so a caption written for LinkedIn cannot silently truncate on Bluesky. Platforms that cannot accept your media are removed from the selection rather than failing at publish time. When one platform genuinely needs different words, override just that caption from the same draft.
Your AI assistant can publish for you
WriteOnce runs a native MCP server, so Claude, Cursor, or any MCP client can draft, schedule, and publish through your account with one API key from Settings. Hootsuite does not offer native MCP posting. If you already write with an assistant, the post never has to leave the window you wrote it in.

What ten platforms cost, both ways
Hootsuite's Standard plan covers up to 10 social accounts, which sounds comparable until you see the entry price and per-user math.
| WHAT MATTERS | WriteOnce | Hootsuite |
|---|---|---|
| Entry paid plan | Creator, $19/mo | Standard, $99/mo per user (annual billing) |
| Price at 10 platforms | $19/mo | $99/mo on Standard (1 user) |
| Price for a 3-person team | $19/mo | $747/mo on Advanced ($249 per user) |
| Scheduled posts on the entry plan | Unlimited | Unlimited on Standard |
| What the free option covers | 7-day trial, all 10 platforms, unlimited posts | 30-day trial only; no permanent free plan |
Hootsuite figures are its published Standard rate of $99 per user per month and Advanced at $249 per user per month, both billed annually, read in July 2026 from hootsuite.com/plans.
Who this actually saves money for
You need LinkedIn, X, Threads, Bluesky, and Reddit on launch day, but you do not need a social listening suite or a five-seat approval workflow. Hootsuite's Standard plan charges enterprise prices for that breadth. WriteOnce covers all ten platforms for a fraction of the cost.
You post daily across visual and text platforms and your audience is split between them. Hootsuite's per-user pricing makes sense when you have a social media manager, a copywriter, and an approver. If you are all three, WriteOnce's flat bill is the better fit.
For large multi-seat agencies with client approval workflows and social listening requirements, Hootsuite still earns its price. WriteOnce is honest about what it lacks here: no approval workflow, no shared inbox. If your agency is really one operator managing a few brands who mostly need to cross-post, WriteOnce can replace a heavier suite.
You need four or five platforms posted to consistently, not an enterprise dashboard. Hootsuite's entry tier costs five times WriteOnce's Creator plan before you add a second user. Flat pricing means a week of posts gets written in one sitting without an enterprise invoice.
How to switch from Hootsuite to WriteOnce
There is no data export or import step. Switching is connecting accounts and rebuilding your queue times, and you can do it while Hootsuite is still running.
Write down your Hootsuite queue times
Open your Hootsuite posting schedule and note the days and times you post on each channel. If you have posts already queued in Hootsuite, leave them there for now so nothing goes missing.
Connect your accounts to WriteOnce
Start the 7-day trial and connect each social account through that platform's own login screen. WriteOnce never asks for a social password. Connect everything, including the niche platforms Hootsuite may not cover on your tier.
Rebuild your queue and post once for real
Set the queue times you wrote down, then write one genuine post and publish it to every platform at once. You will see per-platform results come back individually, so you can confirm each account is properly connected.
Run both tools in parallel for a week
Let whatever is already queued in Hootsuite publish on schedule while you write new posts in WriteOnce. Running both during the trial means you never have a day with no posts going out.
Cancel Hootsuite once the queue is empty
When the last Hootsuite-scheduled post has published, cancel from Hootsuite's own billing settings. Do it in that order rather than cancelling first, because cancelling can remove queued posts you were relying on.

When Hootsuite is the better pick
If you run a large team that needs social listening, advanced analytics, many seats, and approval workflows, Hootsuite earns its price. WriteOnce wins when one person or a small brand wants to write once and publish everywhere for a flat, predictable cost.
Two more cases worth naming. Hootsuite has been running for over a decade with enterprise procurement history, which matters if you are choosing a tool you expect to still be there in five years and need SSO or custom contracts. WriteOnce is new, and that is a real thing to weigh. And if you genuinely use social listening and the unified inbox daily, those features are not something WriteOnce replicates yet.
